Emergency Advisory

During an emergency (i.e., Fire, Earthquake, etc.), Mountain Transit is under the authority of the Sheriff and/or Fire Department.  Mountain Transit does not coordinate evacuations.  Residents are advised to listen to KBHR (93.3) radio for information regarding evacuations and updates during incidents.  It is recommended that mountain residents keep a battery operated radio on hand to be used during emergencies.

Effective 4/8/20 Route 4 service between Running Springs and Lake Arrowhead has been suspended

Affected routes: RIM Route 4

EFFECTIVE 3/30/2020 until the Governors emergency order is lifted – Route 2 service restrictions

RIM Route 2 –

Update: During the Pandemic, we are changing Route 2 schedule effective Monday, March 30, 2020. It will now run from 10:15am – 5:35pm, Monday thru Sunday.

EFFECTIVE 3/21/2020 until the Governors emergency order is lifted- BB Routes 1 and 11

Big Bear Routes 1 and 11: will provide reduced service between the hours of 9:30 and 4:30, 7 days a week.

Limited service schedule is the 9:30-4:30 service on regular schedule

EFFECTIVE 3/30/2020 until the Governors emergency order is lifted- BB Route 3 service resumes with limited schedule

Affected routes: Big Bear Route 3
  • Route 3  service will resume with a limited schedule Monday 3/30/20 until Governor’s emergency order is lifted. Route 3 will run from 7:00am until 2:00pm

EFFECTIVE 3/21/2020 until the Governors emergency order is lifted: Route 5 Big Bear Off the Mountain

Route 5: Big Bear Off the Mountain (OTM) is cancelled until further notice.

Essential transportation off the mountain will be considered on an individual request basis. Call (909) 878-5200 between the hours of 9am-5pm to request off the mountain service.

Affected routes: RIM OTM Route 6

Route 6 RIM Off the Mountain (OTM) service is cancelled.

Effective Immediately 3/18/20 – All service for Big Bear Weekend Trolley Route 8 has been suspended

Affected routes: Big Bear Weekend Trolley

Effective immediately the Trolley Service on the weekend in Big Bear will no longer be in operation until further notice.

All other Big Bear Routes 1, 3, 5 11 and Big Bear Dial a Ride will run as normal.

UPDATE Winter Service disruptions 12/27/19 11:47 am- limited service resumed in RIM , Limited service for ROUTE5 OTM

Winter service disruptions UPDATE 11:47 am: Rim  area Updates to service:

Route 2 will resume limited service, however, due to trees still in the road in Valley of Enchantment, Route 2 can only go as far as Toptown Stop #282 at Linders Tires and Stop #314 Toptown (Hilltop Liquor). There is still no service to VOE at this time.

Route 6 Off the Mountain (OTM) will resume service for OTM (run) 3 and 4 at 12:45

Route 4 Service between Running Springs and Lake Arrowhead will resume at 12:45 from Lake Arrowhead

Rim Dial a Ride (DAR) will resume at 12:30pm

Winter service disruptions UPDATE 8:43am: Big Bear Off the Mountain Route 5 Made a successful (slow but steady) Run Off the Mountain this morning, however, route 5 OTM (run ) 2. will be suspended this afternoon. Route 5 OTM 3 will run as scheduled down the Mountain and back up.

RIM Service is still suspended, we are monitoring road conditions carefully and will resume service as soon as possible. The sun is currently shining bright and we are hopeful to resume safe service soon.

 

Rim Service disruptions 12/27/19 4:36 am-  Due to R3 Chain, road and weather conditions, there will be no bus service for Mountain Transit routes 2, 4 and 6 (off the mountain service to San Bernardino)  AND Dial a Ride in RIM area. We will put buses and drivers back on the road as soon as it is safe to do so. Mountain Transit buses are not allowed to run in R3 conditions.

All Service in Big Bear is still running as scheduled , HOWEVER, Riders should expect delays due to weather and road conditions.  It is an exercise in patience all around. Please, do yourself a favor and  download  our Doublemap Bus tracking app in advance so you can see your bus approach in real time without  waiting in snow wondering. Please keep in mind, service may be late as if road traffic is not moving our buses are not moving. Please be patient and plan appropriately.

Winter Service alert 12/26/19 UPDATES 8:30am- SERVICE DISRUPTIONS

Affected routes: RIM Route 2

Winter Service ALERT UPDATE 12/26/19 8:30am:Due to worsening road and weather conditions RIM Route 6 Off-The-Mountain service is cancelled for the remainder of today.  Big Bear Route 5 Off-The-Mountain service is currently on hold at the Transit Center and is not able to return back up the mountain. There will NOT be any schedule of OTM 2 or 3 downhill service the remainder of today.

Winter Service alert  12/26/19 6:11am:  RIM Route 2 – service from Lake Arrowhead, Crestline and Valley of Enchantment, has been delayed this morning due to unsafe road conditions along the route. Mountain Transit will resume Route 2 service as soon as conditions allow. Please check back for updates. All other service in Big Bear and on the Rim is running as scheduled, however riders should be prepared for delays due to weather and road conditions. Service Disruption 12/2/19 Grandview Towers, effecting Route 2 and Dial a Ride

12/2/19 1:34 pm Due to the Snow and Road Conditions at Grand View Towers, Mountain Transit vehicles will not be able to provide service safely to this location, until road through is cleared.

  •  Route 2 and Dial a Ride passengers may be picked up or dropped off at the Senior Center in Twin Peaks, please inform the Dispatcher when booking your Dial a Ride.
