SAN BERNARDINO – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin a project to mill and overlay current pavement and upgrade guardrail on the shoulder of State Route 18 (SR-18) between Old Waterman Canyon Road and State Route 138 (SR-138). The $17 million project was awarded to All American Asphalt. The project is set to begin on Wednesday, May 30, and is expected to be complete in late 2018.
The guardrail work will begin at State Route 138 (SR 138) and move downhill (south). The paving will begin after the guardrail work is completed. One lane will remain open in each direction during work hours. Motorists may expect delays due to one-way traffic control and occasional, short-term, moving lane closures between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Commercial trucks are encouraged to avoid the area due to reduced lane width. Please consider using State Route 330 (SR-330) as an alternate route during work hours to avoid delays. Other projects will be taking place on SR-330 with summer also so go to caltrans8.info under “work alerts” for the latest information and lane closures.
